A view of the Lower Octagon and Stuart Street, Dunedin with the First Church spire at rear. Shows the Regent Theatre and the Australia New Zealand bank on the corner. The Thomas Burns Memorial can also be seen. Also shows a 'carriage rank' with four carriages (two horse-drawn and two motor) waiting. The inscription on the Thomas Burns Memorial reads "Monument to Rev Thomas Burns, the first Presbyterian Minister in Otago. Erected in 1892 by Robert Chapman who arrived in Otago September 1848
